About the event
Since antiquity to the 18th and 19th centuries to now, crowns made of flowers and foliage have been a beautiful way to accentuate fashion in many different cultures around the world. Learn to make your own in this all-day class to be held in a 19-century Parisian apartment and atelier. We will make wire frames to your head size, decorated with beautiful millinery flowers, leaves, and fruit of your choice. All materials for the workshop are included in the class fee, but a list of recommended suppliers will be provided upon booking in case you want to order your own in advance of the class (in colors to match a special dress, for example).
Outside of a basic sewing kit (needles, scissors, thimble), all of the necessary tools will be available for your use during class. However, if you would like to bring your own head form for use during class and later at home, you can get a discount on your first order with my favorite block maker, Guy Morse Brown Hat Blocks, by mentioning that I referred you. I recommend either a dolly head or a utility block in balsa wood, plus a block spinner.
Class hours: 10am-5:30pm, with a break for lunch
Sewing level: Beginner to Advanced
Space is limited to 6 students
This event is part of our annual Costume Camp series- two weeks of workshops, outings, parties, shopping, and other events for costumers in Paris, France.
